AWS Free Tier Account

I guess I selected the Free Tier option when I created my account. No matter what I do, I don’t seem to be able to select an option to pay to use this. I keep getting:

“Your instance configuration is not eligible for the free usage tier”.

I already have a credit card registered with AWS. You would think that there would be an option to just click “on-demand” when I try to launch the p3.x instance but no such luck…

Does anyone know how I can get past this, aside from just deleting and creating a new account?

Thanks,

-Ryan

You can put in a limit increase request with AWS at: http://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/ec2-request

The symptoms you are experiencing are similar to but not exactly the same as the ones documented in:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1025672/aws-ami/why-can-t-i-select-aws-p3-instances-/

When you put in the limit increase request form, AWS customer service will contact you.

Thank you - I suspected as much but thought it (relatively) seemed like a bit of work just to launch a VM.

I got an email from AWS:

We have approved and processed your limit increase request(s). It can sometimes take up to 30 minutes for this to propagate and become available for use. I hope this helps, but please reopen this case if you encounter any issues.

Summary of limit(s) requested for increase:

[US West (Oregon)]: EC2 Instances / Instance Limit (p3.16xlarge), New Limit = 100

It’s been about 12 hours and I’m getting the same result and unable to launch…

@rbae – please reach out to AWS as this is purely an AWS account issue and is not related to NGC deep learning framework containers.

FWIW, it is not unusual, in my experience, for resource limit adjustments to take 24 to 48 hours to take effect. Please plan accordingly. But again, as the message suggests, please reopen your case with AWS if you encounter any issues.

Thank you to both fgardiner and abelb - the instance is now available in my account!
