TX2 not booting after successful flashing

Hi

I have flashed the TX2 at least 10 times now. I cannot access the TX2 via an HDMI connected monitor - nothing shows up. I cannot ssh to the TX2 although for varying periods after boot it can be pinged. After some time it disappears from ping and cannot be reached. I am afraid there is a problem with the board ?

Any other suggestions ? I am stuck and I need the board up and running for a project.

But I have a problem for flash bootloader , I tried with several ubuntu 14

The relevant communications would be over the micro-B USB cable. I doubt flash would have started without this connected and the Jetson in recovery mode, but there have been cases of USB issues after starting when the host is on a VM. Is there anything unusual about your host, e.g., is it a VM?

I installed my ubuntu system but I have the same problem :(

It sounds like this should work, but USB is failing (it seems like USB is partially working but struggling with low signal quality dropping things after partially working). Are you going through a USB HUB? I’m wondering if a different HUB or going directly to the host without a HUB might help. Is the cable the one supplied with the Jetson?

I am directly connected to USB HOST and i changed two time the USB cable.
The internal 30 GB partition of the card mount well.

Although it could be a hardware failure we know that part of the download succeeded…if this is a case of hardware failure then it would be more typical for no USB communications to work at all, yet some of the process worked.

You could test hardware by doing the reverse of a flash, and cloning a partition. If a clone works, then you know the system is able to read eMMC (this is the “APP” partition). A clone takes quite some time and produces a very large file, so beware of this before starting.

Overall a 28 GB clone will require about 35GB of space on the host. The process is very similar to flashing, but instead of writing the partition it reads the partition. Be sure to use sudo where mentioned.

so using a serial console

Server IP is only looked for if all other methods of booting have failed…eMMC failed, SD card failed, so on. This should not have been reached…it implies steps for booting to standard devices have failed (it does show at least part of the hardware works, otherwise the Jetson could not have booted far enough to search).

Regarding “ERROR: Error initializing runtime service trusty_fast”, trusty is referred to in the apt repositories for downloading packages. I can’t say for certain, but this step is most likely intended for after the Jetson reboots and has JetPack trying to use apt to install additional packages.

The log for flash definitely is not from the flash.sh script of the driver package (and JetPack is a front end to flash.sh). Perhaps it is from something JetPack logged? Can you give more information about the source of that log and exactly which version of which flash software you are using?

This is not a flash log. I’m not saying flash.sh didn’t produce this, but it begins to look like the data flash.sh is using is not a root file system (or something else is corrupt). I’ve seen similar odd behavior when for example wget was used to retrieve something for flash and it retrieved the actual web page rather than the item intended.

If you don’t have “tree” installed on your host you might want to install that. Then go into the “rootfs” directory of your driver package. What is the output of this (if you use click the forum “</>” icon while this is highlighted it’ll keep it arranged nicely as a code block)?

From what I can see that log is correct and valid such that both flash procedure and hardware are working correctly.

Since flash is correct and hardware is working, I would migrate attention to the sample rootfs in the “Linux_for_Tegra/rootfs/” directory. Unless you deleted it, there will be a very large file which was generated by the most recent flash based on the content of the rootfs directory: “bootloader/system.img.raw”. You can explore this by mounting it under loopback (and seeing if you can mount under loopback is the first test). So see if this works:
