CUDA 8.0 installation fail: "Could not find compatible graphics hardware".

Hello there,

I am trying to install CUDA 8.0 on my DELL XPS 15 (9560) machine with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. However, after the system check, it says that "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. "
Does anyone know how to solver this?

Any help is much appreciated!

With kind regards,

Jeroen

Leave your existing driver in place. after starting the installer, deselect the option to install the driver that comes bundled with the installer. The driver you have now will work with CUDA 8.

Dear txbob, thank you for your reply. When I start the installation, I don’t see the option of installing a driver? The error is at the “System Check” stage of the installation. Thanks again.

Here is the error I am getting. Pasteboard - Uploaded Image

So click continue

The installer doesn’t recognize your GTX 1050, because the installer was created before your GTX 1050 was a defined product.

After you click continue, you will be able to select options to deselect the driver install.

Thank you txbob. This works!

Hey txbob,
Could you please tell the specific option to deselect? I am still facing the error.

Will this work with CUDA 9 as well? I am getting the same problem with same card.
