Error while installing DriveWorks via DriveInstall 5.0.5.0

Hey guys,

I’m trying to install DriveWorks via DriveInstall 5.0.5.0 for Autochauffeur on my host PC (Ubuntu 16.04).

I followed all Instructions on the page [url]Autonomous Vehicle Development Platforms | NVIDIA Docs (e.g. Silent installation, Installing w/o entering my password, …)

After downloading the packages I always get the message “Error: Component is missing” (for all packages).

Clicking on the message leads me to the webpage https://partners.nvidia.com/ for which I have no user account. My Nvdidia developer account is not valid here. I tried to reset my password, but this also doesn’t work.

Did anyone encounter the same problem and knows a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Robin

Dear RobinF,

Could you please help to check the following prerequisites? Thanks.

====================
Platform Prerequisites
On the hardware side, you will need one of the following:
• PC (x86 architecture) with a NVIDIA GPU (Maxwell based GPU minimum, Pascal based GPU recommended)
and/or
• NVIDIA DRIVE™ PX 2 with the latest SDK flashed in the system.
Host System Prerequisites
• Linux Desktop or Linux x86/x64 Only
These are the basic prerequisites for Linux. For the version information for each software component, see the
Release Notes.
• Ubuntu Linux 16.04 or 14.04 (out of the box installation)
• GCC >= 4.8.X && GCC <= 4.9.x
• cmake version >= 3.3
Note: By default, Ubuntu 14.04 installs cmake version 2.8. If you are
using that Ubuntu version, you must upgrade cmake to 3.3 or later.
• NVIDIA® CUDA® Toolkit 9.0
You may also need to install (using apt-get install) the following packages:
• libx11-dev
• libxrandr-dev
• libxcursor-dev
• libxxf86vm-dev
• libxinerama-dev
• libxi-dev
• libglu1-mesa-dev
• libglew-dev

Hi SteveNV,

Thanks for your reply and the hints.
I checked all the requirements and my computer complies with all of them.

In the DriveWorks Development Guide v0.6, page 7, I read that one can also install DriveWorks w/o using DriveInstall. Could you please tell me where to get the .deb-packages from?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Robin

Dear RobinF,

If you already using DriveInstall, could you see download folder under the folder where the DriveInstall file is located on your host machine? Thanks.

Dear SteveNV,

The problem is that the .deb files are not getting completely downloaded. Downloading stops before files are downloaded.
Please let me know where I can find those files.

Thank you very much.
Best regards
Robin

Dear RobinF,

I guess maybe this is come from network environment.
So could you please help to check your network environment?
And please refer to the following comments. Thanks.

In network environments that require a proxy server to access the Internet, you can set the http_proxy environment variable by running DriveInstall with following command from a terminal window:

http_proxy=http://username:password@proxy_ip:proxy_port ./DriveInstall_${VERSION}SDK${BUILD}.run
Then DriveInstall will download with this proxy setting.

Note that any special characters (e.g., !,@,#, etc.) in the username or password should be URL encoded.

Dear SteveNV,

I indeed need a proxy server to access the internet, but I think this is not the source of error since I can access the internet via my browser (and also use standard package installing tools like pip, apt-get, …).

Please see my attached screenshot in my initial post on top.

When clicking on “Error:component is missing” I will get redirected to https://partners.nvidia.com/ , but I have no access to this portal.

Best regards,
Robin

Dear RobinF,

To access the site(https://partners.nvidia.com/), you need to take another process.
But I think you don’t need to access the site for this symptom.
Some of customers encountered similar issue, most of customer fixed this issue via the above proxy setting.
So could you please remove all directories and files and then re-run DriveInstall?

Dear SteveNV,

I did as you suggested, still the same problem.
I did as you suggested and did a reboot, still the same problem.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Best Regards,
Robin

I had a similar problem at some point and it turned out that my computer could simply not connect to the files to download from Nvidia. It was an issue with my network. Are you trying to install on a virtual machine or on a standalone.

Double, tripple check your firewall and network connection because this is where your issue is.

To confirm that it is a config issue, try install on a separate or virtualised machine and see how it will connect and begin the installation process.

RESOLVED

Hey guys,

Thanks for your help. I still don’t know how to automatically download the files, but I found a workaround:

  • When trying to install, a file ~/NVIDIA/Drive/5050L_SDK/_installer/local.ini is being created
  • In this file all files, which should be downloaded are linked (at the top the base path and in the “url”-lines the filenames)
  • Download those manually with browser of your choice
  • Put these files into the ~/NVIDIA/Drive_Downloads/ folder
  • Run DriveInstall again

Installation should work now…

Best regards,
Robin

P.S.: Basepath was in my case http://developer.download.nvidia.com/driveworks/installers/driveinstall/5.0.5.0/kpt947/DriveInstall_5050L_SDK_b96/

Hey Guys,

Am facing some issue while installing the DriverWorks SDK using “DriveInstall_5.0.5.0bL_SDK_b3.run”.

I am installing this on a Host PC with Ubuntu 16.04 64bit OS and NVIDIA GTX 1080 card installed.

uname -a
Linux D-01655 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 18 18:33:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Based on the Platform Prerequisites mentioned in the above mails, following things seem to be in place. Ubuntu Linux 16.04
gcc version 7.3.0 (Ubuntu 7.3.0-16ubuntu3)
cmake was missing hence installed cmake 3.5.1

When I run the “DriveInstall_5.0.5.0bL_SDK_b3.run” with the proxy configured.
All packages are downloaded fine.
After that it starts installing the packages.
Some of the packages are getting installed also.
But when it comes to installing the CUDA on Host package it is giving the error as attached.

Installing CUDA on Host 9.0 failed.
Return Code: 1
Error installing cuda on host, please check /home/xxxx/NVIDIA/Drive/5050bL_SDK//_installer/logs/cuda_host_9.0.log for more details

Got this solved.
Probable issue was with corporate firewall blocking some links.

What did you have to change for the firewall in order to get it to go thorough ?
