NVIDIA Jetson Nano Metal Case Designed by Geekworm

After spend a several month time design and development, Geekworm design and produce a metal case with power and reset control switch for this popular NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit. We see that at the current market there is no metal case, just acrylic case for the board. So we design a beautiful metal shell for the Jetson nano.

This is a metal enclosure specially designed for NVIDIA Jetson Nano, support to install power switch and reset switch, and reserve the GPIO hole and the installation space of the fan, and easily assemble it.

And you can find the metal case at the following url:

We do not prepare a cooling fan in the case, as we have tested so many fans, but won’m meet the demand, if you need a cooling fan, you can refer to official recommend Noctua NF-A4x20 5V PWM fan. (We test this fan it is ok to use and a good choice.)

Also you can install an antenna on the case, but you need to buy an antenna yourself if you need to use it.

How do you like this metal case for Jetson Nano?

=============================
We update this metal case now, so we added 2 antenna holes to install the antenna and raspberry pi official camera (this camera is recommend by NVIDIA), The diameter of the hole is 7.3mm; Raspberry pi official camera can be insert into the antenna hole.

We update this case, improved some details (Honeycomb chassis):
Update history:
Add the extra scamera bracket;

It’s only fit to NVIDIA jetson nano.

Just ordered one from amzaon. Not thrilled with the 3D plastic one i printed. Wanted something a bit more sturdy until i mount the SoC into my project.

Nice case. (just finished making one for the Rock Pi 4B)
Wondering why the reset switch isn’t located on the other side of the fan to provide better access to the GPIO header? Also, a slot (w/removable cover) for passing a ribbon cable through would be useful.
Hope this helps

Im going to just dril an extra hole for the cable i need. ( i dont need the entire header… just part of it )

Thanks for posting Harry from GeekWorm and designing the case for Nano.

I’ve added it to the list of enclosures here on the wiki: Jetson Nano - eLinux.org

Thanks for your kind advise.

We consider that reset will not be used often, so we put the reset switch on the back. In addition, if the reset switch is placed in front, the box does not look so beautiful. We have a notch on the top side for easy use of the ribbon GPIO cable,and it seems that we need to show another picture of how to use the GPIO cable. ^_^

Thanks.

We will improve this box in the next batch production, when we will upload a new picture. ^_^

This metal case is support to install ribbon GPIO cable and camera.

This case is nice, but it would be nicer if it would be made of aluminum instead. I am currently designing one made of aircraft aluminum and tempera glass!

Hi, we have consider about the aluminum case, but as it maybe not strong enough or easily transformed, so we use metal material. Consider this case is a little big, so it may be not so good to use aluminum material.
We have this X400 Aluminum case :https://geekworm.com/products/raspberry-pi-x400-v3-0-match-metal-case-with-power-switch, it is small but we find that it is easy to be out of shape.
ALSO to install the power switch, it is good to use metal than aluminum.
This is just our opinion, also we are looking forward to your case, maybe you can attach a photo of your case later. Thank you!

Hi Harry,

thanks for the feedback. I am not sure, when you say that aluminum could be out of shape. Do you imply that it could bend? If this is the case, there shouldn’t be a problem, aluminum is a very strong material depending on how you engineer the structure. Besides, its intended for a for this computer - which its nature is to be stationary and not to be thrown against a wall. Also, aluminum is the best material to dissipate heat etc. Sure I’d be happy to post some pictures here of my case build. Cheers!

We have considered removing the heat sink from the motherboard and then using the passive heat sink solution of the aluminum alloy shell, so that the shell directly contacts the CPU chip, and the shell will become thinner and more beautiful. And we did exactly that when designing the lettepanda shell.

Hi, can anyone point me to the CAD model for Jetson Nano, I am looking for STEP or IGES file providing physical dimensions for connectors and board mounts for custom enclosure.

Hi Henrycvalk,

have you looked into Thingiverse? Here: https://www.thingiverse.com/ You might find something there depended if someone has sourced this similar project - its worth a look.

We upgrade this case for new JETSON NANO B01 version. please refer to New metal case for Rev B01
