Jetson Nano all USB ports suddenly stopped working

My Jetson Nano dev board used to work just fine, Ubuntu worked fine and I was able to use USB devices normally, running off the 5V barrel jack. I installed an Intel 8265NGW wifi card, tried booting it and subsequently none of the USB ports worked for any devices (not even KB / mouse). I can still see the boot messages but cannot do anything.

Anyone have any similar issues? I’m hoping the board won’t be a total write-off, can’t use it without working USB ports!

Are you able to boot up device? Could you dump the dmesg?

Yes, the device boots up to an Ubuntu setup screen (GUI) when I use a fresh image. But cannot click on or type anything since the USB ports are not functioning. Can you give me any hint on how I would be able to dump the dmesg without use of the keyboard or mouse?

I managed to mount the sdcard on a Mac and get the Xlog, but couldn’t find where the dmesg log file was:

I have exact the same problem with the same configuration( Intel 8265NGW card). Have you figured out any solution yet? All USB ports suddenly didn’t work. I tried to re-format the SD card, but the problem still exists. I can use Bluetooth mouse driven by the Intel WIFI card. I notice when it shutdown, there are constantly popping up error messages USB port “over current”.

Does it mean the usb ports are physically damaged? any other possibilities?

I don’t think we have the same issue but the symptoms appear to be the same, according to my dmesg log, I don’t have your “over-current” message but I do have this:

Are you sure this is a full log? I saw the log has been cut off by the forum system.

Codeblock or attachment can prevent it.

Your latest kernel log is different with #8. Which one is correct log? Also, the xusb firmware is gone in latest kernel log and never loaded up.

Are you using pure driver from jetpack/sdkmanager? Do you have any peripheral connected?

I am using the image from the official jetson nano developer kit Getting Started guide, no changes at all. Flashed straight to SD card and that is what I’m getting.

It worked previous to installing the Intel 8265NGW card, I have removed the card since and the USB ports are still non-functional. I was using a USB Wifi dongle before installing the card and that was working fine.

So the log in #8 is actually a working case? Do you mean after you try Intel 8265NGW, the usb is dead after then and the log is in #12?

I just need to clarify which log has the problem and what did you do. Do you install anything for setting up 8265?

#8 was not posted by me but by user wenhailiu94 who has been commenting on this thread. I did not look at his logs.

I installed nothing for the 8265, all USB ports stopped working immediately after I installed it and tried to boot the system.

Yes, that’s right. Sadly, the USB ports don’t even appear to be providing power.
