Quick Start [Carter] in IsaacSim document don't work.

I’m just starting to use IsaacSim.

The project file of IsaacSim seems to be newer than the version of UE4.

How can I create a project file for the UE4 version?

I am having the same issues and not only with the map file, apparently in the newer installations a lot of files are reported as “saved with a newer custom version than the current”.

I have the same problem. But I think I found a solution. Instructions for installing Isaac is a bit outdated. Recently, the Isaac repository has been updated. And I think that now you do not need to separately download the file “Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml” and replace it in the repository. You need to skip this step in the instructions. Now in the repository there is already an actual version of this file. And after cloning a branch IsaacSim_1.2 from the repository, you need to immediately start the command “./Setup.sh” (from the cloned folder).
PS I have not tested it yet. I do not have access to my computer yet.

Thanks Sergey. By skipping the “Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml” step, I was able to compile IsaacSim and open the CarterWarehouse_P map. However, when I push Play nothing happens.

Generally, nothing will happen in the UE4 sim until you run carter_sim or another isaac app that ties into the sim.

Thanks Michael. Following Isaac Sim Quick Start, I have executed the Sight and I can see it in the browser. The camera screens are black. I also don’t see the warehouse or the robot in UE4.

I did not know what to expect to see until I saw this video on YouTube. I think it is helpful to add a video to the documentation.
I can currently see the graphs on Sight but the camera screens are black. I also don’t see the warehouse or the robot in Unreal Editor.

After more investigation, I realized keeping “Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml”, removes a lot of content including the warehouse, hospital and other maps. I am back to square one.

Following the setup steps, I have the warehouse map but I get this error message:

Failed to open map file. This is most likely because the map was saved with a newer version of the engine.

Has anyone had success running Carter in the warehouse recently?

Yes you are right. The file Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml from the Isaac Downloads is really needed. I was wrong.

But I solved the problem with the launch of Isaac Sim. The Isaac Sim repository was indeed updated, and the file Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml on Isaac Downloads was not updated. As a temporary solution, you can roll back the repository one version back and it will work. To do this, immediately after cloning the repository and switching to branch 1, run the command (in the folder where you cloned):

git checkout dffb4e14b280e98436648512497f68fd3f2db6a2

PS But I would like the developers to align the Isaac Sim repository and the distribution on Isaac Downloads.

UPD You may also need to edit the settings files in the Isaac SDK folder. In files apps/carter_sim/bridge_config/carter_full_config.json and apps/carter_sim/carter.config.json in your Isaac SDK folder, you will need to replace all the lines:

with

For some reason, on my computer, Isaac does not take “localhost” and “127.0.0.1” as synonyms

I went back to IsaacSim_1.2.1230256 (ed9317bb75c) release and I get this error when I run Setup.sh:

Failed to download 'http://carbon-deps.s3.amazonaws.com/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core/04b2...': The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbiden. (WebException)

It seems that the access to the right files has been removed on AWS S3.

I hope NVIDIA tests repositories before committing new changes or at least before each release.

For me, changing back to the previous commit (dffb4e14b280e98436648512497f68fd3f2db6a2) on IsaacSim_1.2 works.

Yes, I followed the step of removing “Engine/Build/IsaacSimProject_1.2_Core.gitdeps.xml” and downloaded the one from the download page.

Everything is the same as the instructions, except that I went one commit back on the branch IsaacSim_1.2.

Sorry for the delayed response. I have asked someone to look into reproducing the problem encountered here, my impression is that you are seeing the message “saved with a newer custom version than the current” because for some reason the engine has not been rebuilt with the latest changes from the repo. These changes are needed in order to be compatible with latest release of IsaacSDK, so rolling back to the earlier version is not a solution. If I were you I’d do the synch, run the setup again to pick up any changes in the gitdeps.xml, and also make sure the engine is fully rebuilt after running the setup.

Please tell a little more about how I can synchronize. Do I need to checkout the newest branch of the Isaac Sim repository and run the setup command?
