Phase Focus seeks a hands-on Software Engineer with demonstrable software management skills to implement and test – both internally, and in collaboration with end-users and business partners – a range of products incorporating the Company’s novel iterative phase retrieval algorithm (the Phase Focus Virtual Lens™).

The primary responsibility of the successful applicant will be the implementation of the Virtual Lens algorithm and its associated data acquisition, user interface and data display functions; and the generation, testing, documentation, delivery and support of the associated software.

Skills

Highly proficient in C++ and C scientific software development

Experience of developing using Microsoft Visual Studio development tools

A good understanding of high performance computing development, resulting in the ability to translate Phase Focus’ algorithms into optimized implementations, specifically, experience with techniques and libraries such as multi-threaded applications, IPP and MKL libraries, CUDA, etc.

Note:The software engineer will need to be able to gain a broad understanding of Phase Focus’ algorithms, but will not be developing these algorithms him/herself.

Able to architect computationally intensive applications to maximise performance

Able to write interfaces and wrappers to hardware drivers. Experience with image processing, reconstruction, and microscopy a plus.

Experience of the quality aspects of commercial software development, including:

- software project management

- the software lifecycle

- software testing strategies

- source control

Mathematically proficient: understanding of complex numbers and matrix algebra

Experience of MATLAB would be an advantage. Experience of requirements capture and the production of Functional Specifications also a plus.

Able to work both independently and in a team and communicate clearly

Postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other numerate subject a plus
