Best CUDA Video Card for MacPro 2007

Hy there,

After 1 day of searching over the nVidia forum, www i still did not find a right answer…

So… i have this machine:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro2,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number of Processors: 2
Total Number of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per Processor): 8 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP21.007F.B06
SMC Version (system): 1.15f3
Serial Number (system): C073900RUPZ

And i am searching for the best nVidia option for this machine.
I do 2d graphic design, but i want to be able to use it in 3D modeling with a decent rendering time (not rocket science or speed). I use Adobe products and for 3D i use Cinema4D

I thought that Quadro 4000 was the choice but i have found that my Mac is not supported
Also FX4800 is not compatible with 2,1
I am confused about GTX 285 because some resellers specify that is not supported for the 1,1 or 2,1 MacPro and on nVidia i did not see this.

If there is one with CUDA it will be grate…

Thank you for your time.

Andrei

I second this request/question…!

@ digidow Bad News

We can not have CUDA on our macs, sadly they are to old. From what i have read in the last hours the technology only works on 1666 BUS speed, and we only have 1333.
There is a comment in the above post for Geforce 8800GT but i do not want this card. I think i will choose Quadro FX4500 for MAC, and again sadly, this card is no longer in production, so a second hand one is the “best” option.

Thanks andreisima for pointing me in the right direction
