Ubuntu 10.04.4-Nvidia 6200-304.64-DPMS SUSPEND

I am having a hell of a time trying to get a GeForce 6200 (NV44a) working with an Olevia 23" HDTV (Syntax brand 323V). It must be an EDID handshake issue because as soon as X loads the TV screen goes into DPMS SUSPEND/STANDBY mode and I can’t do anything. I can’t go to a tty session, nothing will wake the TV from the DPMS SUSPEND mode. I am using the 304.64 driver from xorg edgers ppa. I have also tried the driver from your website to no avail. I am using linux kernel 3.0.0-28 but have also tried 2.6.35-22 and 2.6.35-31.

I have a forum post going on over here: [SOLVED] Nvidia 6200 - Olevia 26" TV - DPMS Suspend

Can someone please provide some help?

i came back to update in case others have a similar issue. it turns out I believe it was a hardware issue with the 6200 card overheating. The nvidia binaries would result in it going into DPMS SUSPEND immediately and the nouveau driver would work for a little bit but programs were all garbled and then it would go into DPMS SUSPEND.

I ended up purchasing a GeForce 8400 GS for $32.00 from newegg and using the latest 310.19 linux driver and all is well.
