This is *not* fixed. On muxless Optimus laptops it still "falls off the bus". I think we are going to have to wait for the update after 3.25. I had to downgrade back to 3.9.9 and recompile.

This is not fixed for me on Arch Linux with the following packages: repo-ck/linux-ck-ivybridge 3.10.10-1 repo-ck/nvidia-ck 325.15-5 I have not yet tested the vanilla Arch packages (same versions), but I assume the results are the same.

It seems that this update is working for people using bumblebee, is this correct?

No I don't think so. I'm using bumblebee on a Clevo Laptop with a GeForce 660M running archlinux with the latest update and the card still falls off the bus

Good news everyone: This issue is gone on Linux 3.11 ! Arch users: get linux, linux-headers and nvidia from testing and update the rest from the regular repositories. Or wait a few days, until Linux 3.11 is in the core repository. Now I would love to know what was causing this issue. Especially since it seems to be originating from (a bug in?) the Linux kernel.

Apparently, this is not completely fixed. For my system (Lenovo Ideapad Y500), this works, but it was reported in the Arch Linux topic that on a Thinkpad W530 + Quadro K2000M with Bumblebee, the exact same problem still exists.

Weird, I'm using y500 too and problem still persists (fans blow like crazy and no output goes to screen), even after upgrading to Linux 3.11 from testing. Can anyone else confirm this works for him so I can confirm this problem is on my side?

Not fixed for me. I'm using bumblebee on my laptop with an Intel Ivy GPU and a GeForce GT 650M, when trying to run some application on the nvidia card, like 'optirun glxgears', some error gets displayed and it shuts down, the same as when using a 3.10.x kernel. System: ArchLinux x86_64 Kernel: 3.11-1 (testing repo kernel) - does not work Kernel: 3.11 (custom kernel) - does not work Kernel: 3.9.8 (custom kernel) - works Nvidia driver: 325.15 (+ 3.11 patch: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/plain/trunk/nvidia-linux-3.11.patch?h=packages/nvidia )

I can add that at the moment (3.10.10 and 325.15-5, i havent updated to 3.11.x) the driver works but alternating between 1 crash and 1 correct execution. It is not a big problem because when it launches, it does not crash until the next execution of a GPU program. When it crashes, it is at the beginning so you imediatly know if you need to re-execute. I hope 3.11.x fixes that for me, I'll wait the core release though. Hardware is Haswell i7 4700HQ + GTX 765M
Experiencing the exact same issue on my Asus G75VX-T4066H, with GeForce GTX670MX gpu. Also running Arch Linux x64. The only difference for me is that my fans would not start spinning at full speed before my system dies, otherwise I am experiencing the exact same problem.
Same here with a Asus G55VW with a GeForce GTX660M. The curious thing is that this laptop and probably yours don't use optimus, i.e. the computers ONLY use the NVIDIA card. I haven't tried 3.11 yet. I'll wait till it hits the Debian repositories. As a comment to all, if you don't want to use the abandoned 3.9.x kernel series for security concerns, etc, the Ubuntu kernel team is maintaining the kernel 3.8.13.x series here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/linux-3.8.y Or with git: git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/linux.git Of course you'll have to compile it by yourself and package it appropriately.
