nvidia-smi shows "insufficient permissions" for GPU processes on Windows

I have a customer who has a new system with a K6000 installed. When running the nvidia-smi command, in an elevated command prompt, as the same user who is running the GPU enabled/accessing application, the user sees the information “Insufficient Permissions” in the process information field following the Process ID.

Driver and SMI reported by nvidia-smi version is 331.82. This is occurring on a Windows 7 SP1 system while logged in at the console, and the card set to WDDM mode.

In all other ways, GPU appears to be working, but this is the first time we’ve seen this behavior and have been unable to duplicate on multiple other systems and GPU cards.

I too am having this problem but with my K2000 and K620 cards on the two systems that I have. I think it might have something to do with how the “Manage 3D Settings” are configured in the Nvidia Control Panel (to configure different programs that are installed on the host computer), but I have not been able to confirm that just yet. I’m hoping others might chime in and point us in a good direction. Thanks all!
