Faulty File in Nvidia Driver Causing Crashes

Approximately one year ago, I tried to run the game Civilization 5 using DirectX 11. Shortly after starting up the game, it would crash.

I contacted 2k Support to help me out, and they told me that the problem resided in a faulty file within my current Nvidia driver called “.dll file (“nvwgf2um.dll”)”.

After doing so, they referred me to you guys in order to resolve the issue.

However, I dropped the issue entirely and reverted to using DirectX 9 instead.

Now, a year later, Civilization Beyond Earth has come out, and it crashes after a few minutes of gameplay. As far as I know, I can’t revert to DirectX 9 like I did with Civ 5 in order to play C:BE.

So, now I need help fixing the driver, or any faulty defect that may be preventing me from playing the game.

My PC specs are as follows:

OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core™i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 16.0 GB
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT640 4 GB

Any help would be appreciated.
