Hi, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I’ve had trouble running NSight (5.0 version, 4.7 does not work as well). When running NSight graphics debugging, my laptop would randomly throw a BSOD named KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. More recently (after updating to the newest driver 358.50) I even got this BSOD: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (nvlddmkm.sys).
Not even checking for System info works (Nsight menu → Windows → System info). It returns this:
Failed to retrieve system info from the remote machine.
Error Details: No system information available. 'No system information available'
I have been trying to fix it for several hours. The only thing that worked was to install the driver provided by Toshiba (my laptop’s brand). But that driver is pretty old (326.60) and does not support the new OpenGL features I require. I at least got the system info from that driver (if needed, I can paste it here, but it’s pretty long). Now, I have not the most recent driver (355.98), but this one lets me start NSight Graphics Debugging, although the overlay does not show up in the window and I can do nothing with NSight.

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, fully updated

Intel(R) Core™ i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
GPUs: GeForce GT 740M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
Driver version: 355.98 (not the latest one, but at least it does not go into BSOD)

Of course it does. I have an optimus laptop with a GeForce GT 520M, Windows 10 x64, newest drivers and my Nsight 5.0 is running just fine.

Will disabling the Intel GPU help? There does not seem to be an option in BIOS to disable it (latest BIOS update). Disabling it through the device manager seems to have no effect. And of course I switched the preferred GPU to NVIDIA in the NVIDIA Control Panel and am sure that the program runs on the NVIDIA GPU.
And how come it works with an older driver but not a newer one? Did NVIDIA suddenly drop support for multi-GPU architectures?

Hi,
Sorry, I mean Nsight’s Graphics Debug don’t support Hybrid on Win10/Laptop, Performance Analysis should support Hybrid.
355.98 should be fine with Nsight, I never saw BSOD during my usage of Win10/Nsight. This is the forum for Nsight devtools, if you concern the BSOD of the driver alone, I think you might post on some other place.
