Freezing up/ after

My system:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
CPU: AMD FX-4350 (4.2gHz)
GPU: GTX 650 - 2gb Memory
OS: LinuxMint 17.3/Kernel 3.19.0-32
Memory: 2X4 Team Vulcan DDR3 1600mHz (8gb)
Primary Drive: 120gb Corsair ssd Force LS
Secondary Drive: Seagate 1 TB SSHD

Computer becomes Sluggish, and slow to respond then eventually freezes when woke up using 352.63-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 . I would have to shut down the computer improperly in order to get it back to normal.

Changed driver to Open source version, issue is gone.

Didn’t know where to put this kind of bug…

For anyone else who is using a similar rig.

IME upgrading Linux Mint 17.3’s stock kernel ver. 3.19.x to 4.2.x wily via Synaptic Package Manager will improve system response.

Reverting to an earlier known-good version of the nVidia driver or conversely to an even newer version is what I’ve done on the exceedingly rare occasion that I’ve experienced GPU driver issues on a PC-BIOS-based or CSM-enabled UEFI-based AM3+ system under Linux Mint 17.3 MATE.

sudo apt-get update

A tip for Linux Mint users who find it desirable or necessary to change from one nVidia driver version to another:

  • Via Driver Manager install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

  • Reboot

  • Then install the desired version of the nVidia binary driver

  • Reboot

Hi Guys,

This forum is for Linux Graphics Debugger, you might post in some other place for Linux Driver issues.

Thanks
