Tegra System Profiler on Nexus 9 (tools app is outdated)

I’m trying to use the Tegra System Profiler on Mac OS X El Capitan, with a rooted Nexus 9 (Android 5.1.1). When I run the profiler app, it goes through:

  • Checking the security app on the device…
  • Uninstalling the tools app from the device…
  • Uninstalling the daemon executable…
  • Checking the daemon on the device…
  • Installing the daemon executable…
  • Checking the daemon on the device…

and then says:

NVIDIA Tegra System Profiler
3.7.224-e982b7b OSX

  • htc Nexus 9 (HT4APJT02290):

[Error] The tools app on the device is outdated
The tools package (com.nvidia.tegraprofiler.tools) has to be updated to match the version of the host app.

Clicking “Force Update Tools App” just sends it through the cycle again, with the same result.

Hello msasha,

Thank you for a detailed bug report!

Unfortunately, Nexus 9 is no longer supported by Tegra System Profiler. The best we can do now is to suggest to use NVIDIA hardware, such as SHIELD TV, for further development. Tegra System Profiler actively supports devices in the SHIELD family.

Best regards,
Andrey
