I am trying to install a CUDA capable driver on 64-bit ubuntu 8.04 with an LCD monitor connected to a Quadro FX 5800. I’ve tried it with different LCD monitors (Samsung SyncMaster 245BW, Samsung SyncMaster 206BW, and a Dell monitor), but they are unable to sync with the Quadro. When I connect a CRT to the Quadro, it works fine.
Here’s what I’ve done:
-
add DISABLED_MODULES=“nv” to /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common
-
/etc/init.d/gdm stop
-
install NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.22-pkg2.run
-
/etc/init.d/gdm start
The computer hangs here and tries to go into Low Graphics Mode
I’ve tried modifying the xorg.conf, but it hasn’t worked so far. I don’t know what I need to have in that file for my configuration.
nvida-xconfig provides me with the following /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
I’ve tried changing it to:
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance.
